Governance
The University Court has overall responsibility for the strategic direction and governance of UHI. At an operational level, the Court delegates many of its functions to the Executive Board, Academic Council and committees.
UHI is a company limited by guarantee and is regulated in accordance with its memorandum and articles of association.
The Court
The Court is responsible for the overall strategic direction and governance of the university.
Executive Board
The Executive Board is responsible for any planning, development or operational matters delegated to them by the Court.
Committees
To assist with its work, the University Court delegates some of its responsibilities to committees.
Academic Council and committees
Academic Council is UHI’s highest academic authority for higher education. It delegates some of its detailed responsibilities to a number of committees.
Chancellor
The chancellor is the titular head of the university. Appointed by the court, he or she presides over academic award ceremonies, such as graduations.
The Foundation
The Foundation provides a connection between UHI and its communities and acts as a custodian of the UHI mission.

There are a number of policies and regulations that affect staff, students and the wider community.
