Commercialisation and knowledge transfer
In some instances information will be exempt from disclosure where it contains personal information, or information which, if released, may substantially prejudice the commercial interests of any person, endanger the physical or mental health or the safety of an individual, substantially prejudice the effective conduct of public affairs or constitute an actionable breach of confidence.
Support arrangements
UHI supports commercialisation of the knowledge generated by its research activities through its Knowledge Transfer team, this includes:
- IP advice guidance
- Assistance in collaborating with industry
- Assistance in finding funding for near market research projects
- Guidance on Proof of Concept awards and prototyping
- Advice in spinning out a new company
- Help in market analysis/feasibility studies
- Assistance in writing business plans
- Locating financial assistance at each stage in the commercialisation process
- Grant application analysis for potential Commercialisation and IP issues.

Commercialisation resources
No resources such as science parks or incubator facilities currently exist within UHI centrally although UHI’s Academic Partner, SAMS UHI does now have such facilities.
