Health and safety

This section covers information about UHI's health and safety policies, procedures and records

In some instances information will be exempt from disclosure where it contains personal information, or information which, if released, may substantially prejudice the commercial interests of any person, endanger the physical or mental health or the safety of an individual, substantially prejudice the effective conduct of public affairs, or constitute an actionable breach of confidence.

Policies

Certificate of employer's liability insurance  (pdf). UHI academic partners individually produce their own health and safety policy statements.

Annual reports

An annual report is prepared and submitted to the Secretary of UHI at the end of the calendar year. UHI academic partners produce their own annual reports individually.

Monitoring

Period scheduled monitoring of health and safety matters is undertaken by a number of staff members including the janitor, first aiders/fire wardens and (currently) the health and safety adviser. This includes routine maintenance checks as well as specific and general risk assessments. Risk assessment reports are currently provided to the director of marketing and communications.

Statistics

No statistical reports have ever been produced as being warrented. An indicative 3 minor reported accidents (paper cuts to fingers etc) in approximately an 18 month period and 2 fire drill practices, without incident.

Support structures

None as such.

Emergencies

HSE posters with named contact and telephone number are posted within the office. Similarly for fire assembly. HSE posters and others in the staff room provide other health and safety guidance.
