Dr Crichton Lang
Dr Lang joined the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) in 2006. Dr Lang originally trained and practised as a veterinary surgeon in Tayside before completing a PhD in neuropharmacology and pursuing a University career. Dr Lang worked first in the University of Bristol and subsequently for 12 years at the University of St Andrews where in addition to lecturing and developing curriculum in his own areas of interest (applied physiology, human and comparative biology), he held the posts of Director of Teaching for the School of Biology and Pro-Dean for the Faculty of Science.
Dr Lang is in charge of the UHI Academic Directorate which covers all academic governance, quality assurance, strategic and regulatory processes relating to UHI's curriculum. The Academic Directorate also incorporates the Deans and associated Faculty structures, staff development and quality enhancement activities. From 1st January 2014, Dr Lang will become Acting Principal of UHI until a permanent successor to the retiring Principal is secured.
