Year 1 - PgCert
Core modules are:
- The Gaelic legacy
- Writers and place
- Literary iconographies
Option modules include:
- Historical and cultural perspectives of the North Atlantic Rim
- Contemporary Scottish poetry
- Early Scottish literature
Year 2 - PgDip
Core modules are:
- Modern Scottish Gothic
- A Tour of the Highlands
Option modules include:
- Exploring creative writing
- The language and palaeography of older Scots
- The North Atlantic Rim literary context
Year 3 - MLitt
To achieve the award of MLitt Highlands and Islands Literature you must complete a research dissertation
Study options
- You will study through a combination of video conference lectures and tutorials, and online study via the UHI virtual learning environment (VLE)
- International students can also study by online distance learning using the UHI VLE and video conference
- This course has been approved for in-country international delivery. It may also be studied by international students based within the UK.
- You will also attend a two-day induction in Orkney at the start of your course
