As a programme leader for Inverness College UHI, Ross has significant professional experience in both design office and contracting environments. His teaching and research interests are focused around architecture, architectural technology and sustainability within the construction industry particularly in terms of the impact of construction, use of natural materials and the promotion of the built environment in a sustainable and managed way.

As Junior Vice-Chair of the Chartered Institute of Building Highlands and Islands Branch he has been involved in the development of links between industry and education and training and heavily involved in the creation of the first construction related degree to be delivered in the Highlands and Islands.

He is a founding member of the Highland Chapter of the Scotland West Region of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists. He chairs regional meetings and provides educational advice for the Scotland West Region.

Elsewhere, Ross is an active practitioner within the industry with his own architectural practice and is also a director/shareholder of a house building firm.
