Professor Ben Wilson
Prof. Ben Wilson’s role in UHI is to coordinate the University’s portfolio of energy related research. An area of University strength is in understanding how ocean energy devices (wind, wave, and tidal-stream) interact with the environment from harnessing and surviving the resource to impacts with indigenous fauna and flora.
Ben’s own research focusses on evaluating collision risks between marine mammals and renewable devices, underwater acoustic footprints of marine industries from shipping to energy developments to fish farms. He is widely involved with the UK marine energy sector and was convenor of the Marine Energy Forum (2012-14) for the Marine Alliance for Science and Technology for Scotland (MASTS).
