Business Development Manager, ERG
The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) provides university-level education through a unique partnership of 13 colleges and research institutions located throughout the Highlands & Islands.
The aim of UHI’s renewable energy strategy is to develop sustainable capacity across the partnership, and to fulfil its potential to provide a ‘living laboratory’ of knowledge, expertise and resource in the field of renewable energy. The Energy Research Group (ERG) was established to enable UHI to achieve a reputation for excellence in applied research in this field, initially focusing on niche fields where it already has an interest and some capacity. These fields include, but are not limited to: marine - tidal and wave; wind; hydrogen; biomass; and the wider field of community renewable energy.
To aid the further development of the renewable energy strategy ERG requires short term (~4 months) research and commercialisation expertise
Business Development Manager

Salary Grade 7 – £32,232 - £37,365
The Business Development Manager will support the Head of the Energy Research Group in ensuring that maximum financial and commercial benefit is achieved though the renewable energy activities of UHI academic partners, and to assist with ERG’s own revenue generating activity.
The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to maintain ERG as the focal point and framework for connecting the UHI academic partners through training & research in Renewable Energy and encourage and enable joint academic partner projects in renewable energy through qualifications and through post degree experience and research.
Travel within the UK and abroad will be a requirement of this post.
The closing date is 15th February 2012 and interviews will be held on 6 March 2012.
Interviews will be held in Inverness.
