The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) provides university-level education through a unique partnership of thirteen colleges and research institutions located throughout the Highlands & Islands.
To support our work we have created this new full time role within the UHI Executive Office.
Systems Librarian
£26,994 - £31,292 pa
Reporting to the University Librarian, the Systems Librarian will be responsible for managing, developing and administration of the LMS (currently Millennium). During 2012, an exciting new shared services venture will see the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC), who have a joint LMS, migrate from their current supplier to share UHI’s Millennium system. The postholder will manage the joint system on behalf of all three institutions.
Applicants should have a relevant degree or post-graduate qualification, library system management experience and project management experience. Strong understanding of the technology context and of the HE information services environment is required. The successful candidate will be a self-motivator, be able to organise own workload, work flexibly and travel across Scotland. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to relate to library staff and ICT staff.
The postholder will be required to visit campuses of all three institutions regularly, and a considerable amount of travelling (including evenings) should be expected. As a result, the location of the post is not fixed and will be agreed with the successful candidate.
