Shetland College UHI Student of the Year

Karen Marshall, studying HNC Business, was named as Shetland College UHI Student of the Year.

Karen Marshall was praised by her tutor, Karen Manson, for her exceptional academic achievement, in light of external factors such as moving to Shetland very recently, and balancing her college studies with being a young mother. Karen has also provided invaluable support to her fellow students by acting as an informal mentor.

On winning the award, Karen said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have won Shetland College HE Student of the Year. It is something I never expected. I really have enjoyed this last year and I have been lucky to have had the best lecturers to encourage me to achieve my full potential.”

Irene Peterson, Acting Principal, said; “I would like to congratulate our Higher Education Student of the Year, Karen Marshall, on being selected from our group of nominees this year, all of whom were extremely strong contenders for these roles.”
