Barry Irvine, an HNC Computing student, was nominated by his tutor, Euan Robertson, who praised his overall attitude and standard of work throughout the year. Barry has been dedicated to his coursework, continually demonstrating independent learning and skills beyond that required for his HNC course. Staff were particularly impressed by how Barry managed his medical conditions - demonstrating a determination not to give up during what must have been difficult circumstances.

Barry also took on the role of class representative and was fully engaged with staff and students throughout the year. He said that he was “very surprised to be nominated for the HE Student of the Year and very honoured to be chosen for it. I would like to thank Euan for the nomination and the panel for choosing me for the award.”

Irene Peterson, Acting Principal, noted “we had a very strong set of nominations again this year for these titles, for students from a range of our curriculum areas, and the interview panel was very impressed by each of the nominees. My warm congratulations to all of our nominees, and to Barry on being selected as our HE Student of the Year.”
