Health and wellbeing
Your health and wellbeing are priorities. Looking after yourself will help you study better and give you more energy.
Combining study with a job or a family, living away from home for the first time or being on a tight budget all take your energy and sometimes take your mind off your own good health and wellbeing. Here are five easy rules for ‘keeping healthy’:
- Eat a balanced diet: the experts recommend five portions of fruit and veg a day, lots of starchy foods (rice, pasta, bread) and very little sugar, fat and caffeine.
- Get active: 30 minutes energetic cycling or walking a day can be just as healthy as going to the gym.
- Get enough sleep: sleep researchers recommend 7-8 hours sleep a night.
- Relax and have fun: find time to unwind and do the things you enjoy.
- Be moderate: too much alcohol will upset your health, studies and bank balance.
