An academic transcript is a detailed record of study which lists all modules taken and results achieved for the individual modules.
Academic transcripts are available to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students, who require evidence of subjects studied and grades/marks attained at the university. They are normally used by students to apply for courses or employment, as other institutions and prospective employers may require a more detailed confirmation of award other than the degree parchment.
Transcripts are issued automatically to all graduating students by the university Student Records Office (UHI SRO), along with their award certificate. The UHI SRO can also produce additional transcripts for taught postgraduate and undergraduate degree programmes on request.
An academic transcript will provide the following information on a single document covering all years of study:
- The modules which have been taken in each year of study;
- The assessment or reassessment (as appropriate) result and grade for each module;
- Credits achieved, including European credits for the ECT system, for each module;
- Any credits transferred in or gained as part of a UHI exchange programme or recognised prior learning (RPL);
- The degree awarded and degree classification (where applicable).
Courses/modules that are validated by other institutions are not included on the transcript. This includes all work relating to SQA validated courses, such as HNC, HND, PDA, and SVQ. These should be obtained from the relevant educational provider.

Marks are not listed on the student hub until they have been approved by the relevant examination board. Please do not request a formal transcript until you have checked that all your marks have been approved by an examination board.
How to order additional transcripts and make payment
Remember that a transcript will be issued automatically to all graduating students. If you require additional transcripts you must order and pay for them. Fees for academic transcripts are £5 per copy. All transcript fees are non-refundable.
The transcript will not be issued until payment has been received in full. Your order and payment can be made here.
You will be sent an electronic transcript as well as a paper copy of it. If you require your transcript to be sent directly to more than one address, please contact SRO with the additional addresses, once you have made the order and payment. Transcripts are sent out first class or airmail as appropriate.
Please note that you should normally allow at least seven working days from receipt of your application for your transcript to be produced.
