Blackboard Exemplary Course Program this site has a list of winners of the exemplary course program, course descriptions and course tours. The Blackboard Exemplary Course Program began in 2000 to identify and disseminate best practices for designing engaging online courses. Using a rubric instructors and course designers are able to evaluate how well their own course conforms to best practices for course design.
British Universities Film & Video Council - the British Universities Film & Video Council (BUFVC) is a representative membership organisation for universities and colleges in the UK. It is part-funded by HEFCE via the JISC and promotes moving image and related media for UK higher education and research. The BUFVC delivers a range of high quality specialist services to its members and some web content for use by the wider community outside BUFVC membership.
The Community Learning Resource - information on a range of existing online e-learning resources for the ACL sector. These resources include the NLN Materials, practitioner created materials and information about freely available resources available both online and offline. You can also find guidance on creating your own resources and, via the resource exchange, read case studies on how some of these resources have been effectively used with learners.
Creative Commons - Creative Commons provides free tools that let authors, scientists, artists, and educators easily mark their creative work with the freedoms they want it to carry. You can use CC to change your copyright terms from "All Rights Reserved" to "Some Rights Reserved."
Ferl - an advice and guidance service supporting individuals and organisations in making effective use of ILT within the Post Compulsory Education sector.
Intute - a free online service providing access to Web resources for education and research. The service is created by a network of UK universities and partners. Subject specialists select and evaluate the websites in their database and write descriptions of the resources. The database contains 113365 records. They also offer a range of free materials for staff in universities and colleges to use to support effective Internet searching and research in their own institutions - download these from their Support Materials page.
JISC infoNet - Effective Use of Virtual Learning Environments - the infoKit aims to enable tutors to make informed decisions, based on sound educational principles, about the use of technology in their teaching and their students' learning when using a VLE.
JISC infoNet - implementing e-learning - this toolkit has been created as part of our applied infoKit series, which take general best practice frameworks and shows how they might be applied to a specific area. The purpose of this overview is to signpost resources that can provide assistance in assessing the costs, benefits and risks of implementing and developing e-learning provision.

Physics Flashlets - a collection of Flash animations by Michael Fowler, University of Virginia. You need Flash installed to play the animations. Download Flash from the e-learning downloads page.
Project Gutenberg - a library of 17000 ebooks whose copyright has expired in the USA. The site has book listings, a search engine, newsletter and articles. Not all of the books are available for free distribution, please read What you are allowed to do with the books you download before downloading a book or consult John Casey.
Royal Veterinary College eMedia Review Site - a selection of computer aided learning programmes completed or under development by the Electronic Media Unit of The Royal Veterinary College, for example An Introduction to Veterinary Dentistry, aimed at veterinary students, surgeons and nurses to reinforce basic skills. An interactive multimedia course, mainly focusing on canine dentistry. Interactive quizzes, flash animations and video clips are used to illustrate major points.
Spoken Word Services - Spoken Word Services is based in the Saltire Centre at Glasgow Caledonian University. Their core aim is to enhance and transform educational experience through the integration of digitised spoken word audio and video into learning and teaching. They are attempting to make a substantial portion of the BBC’s radio archive accessible online for educational use, ranging from Leonard Cheshire’s eyewitness account of the Nagasaki atomic bomb to Boy George’s frank discussion of his own heroin addiction. Spoken Word resources are for educational purposes only. These resources are protected in the United Kingdom and other countries by copyright law. Use of the Spoken Word audio respository is subject to an End-User Licence Agreement, which you must read and understand before proceeding. University of California, Berkeley videos - drawn from campus seminars, courses and events. Free to view but you may not use them in your courses.
UHI Electronic resources - this section of the UHI library Web site contains information on the various methods of accessing the resources available to staff and students of the UHI. To access resources which are only subscribed to by your local college, please speak to your local library staff.
