Scottish Saltire Scholarship

If you are interested in one of our on-site (not online) Masters courses, you may wish to consider applying for Governement-funded Scottish Saltire Scholarship

This exciting scholarship opportunity is open to Canadian, Chinese, Indian and US nationals and is aimed at encouraging bright, talented and hard working individuals to live, work and study in Scotland.

£2000 is available as a one off award towards the cost of tuition fees for a full time Masters level course (excluding PhD studies).


To apply for the Scottish Saltire Scholarship you should:

-          have a conditional offer of a place at a UHI eligible course

-          be a citizen of Canada, the People's Republic of China, India or the USA

-          be able to demonstrate that you can meet the costs of living and remaining tuition fees

-          complete an application form and submit it to your selected institution by the closing date

-          not have completed an undergraduate degree in Scotland

Eligible UHI Masters courses:

  1. MTh Reformed Theology,
  2. MLitt Highlands and Islands Literature,
  3. MSc Interpretation: Management and Practice,
  4. MLitt Shetland and Orkney Studies.

deadline: Friday, 11th June 2010

In order to apply please follow the application process online:

1. Fill out the application form online at www.scotlandscholarship.com (through the "where can I study and how to apply" section)

2. A pdf document with the completed application form will then be e-mailed directly to you. Please send it to us along with supporting documents:
- UHI Conditional or Unconditional offer letter
- One academic reference

To be considered for the scholarship you will need to have applied to the UHI Millennium Institute for a place starting in September 2010 and have firmly accepted an offer, either conditional or unconditional by 11th June 2010.

The scholarship can only be held by students of UHI commencing study in September 2010 – they cannot be transferred to other institutions
