Designated as a higher education institution in April 2001, we are working together to create a fully established university.

Programme Management

UHI has Strategic Development Body (SDB) status, and plans, manages and disburses £50m of European Structural Funds over the next 4 years to help achieve the partnership’s strategic objectives.  The SDB is the interface between the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), ESF Convergence Programmes for the Highlands & Islands 2007-13 and UHI’s Strategic Plan.  Given the imperative for the Highlands & Islands to have a university, this is a significant interface and actions from the SDB will have a lasting impact on economic and social development beyond the lifetime of the Operational Programmes.
