Professor Anton Edwards
Self-employed consultant, honorary professor, University of St Andrews
Anton has been a marine physicist for most of his life, applying oceanography to issues of ocean circulation, coastal pollution, defence, aquaculture and marine management and regulation. After lecturing, scientific and management careers in the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) and the Scottish Enviroment Protection Agency(SEPA), he now works as an independent marine consultant. He is a member of the Academic College of the Natural Environment Research Council, secretary of his community council, editor of the journal of the Scottish Rock Garden Club, a member of Tay Estuary Forum and an honorary professor of St Andrews.
He believes that education encourages skilled, confident and independent people, such as are needed to make a creative, adventurous and happy society within the extensive and diverse region of the UHI.
