Dr Gary Campbell
Vice-Principal (Strategic Developments)

Dr Gary Campbell works in collaboration with colleagues across the university partnership to lead on strategic academic developments on behalf of the university itself. This ensures the university plays a leading role in the economic development of our region. He works closely with internal and external stakeholders to align regional requirements with the university curriculum, research and knowledge exchange activity. In doing this, he also ensures close operational and strategic alignment to a wide range of other partnership activity including further education.
Previously an environmental scientist specialising in climate change, Gary's previous experience includes teaching at Inverness and Moray Colleges, management of undergraduate programmes, academic middle management, subject network leading and latterly, Dean of Science, Health and Engineering and Assistant Principal for Curriculum Enhancement. His external experience includes lecturing and research at Aberdeen and Sheffield Universities, as well as working at Newton Rigg College and teaching the long-term unemployed.
