Make a donation
Are you able to help our current students? By making a donation, no matter how small, you can make a real difference to the lives of our students.
The Student Development Fund is designed to offer a little bit of help to our students. Many students get offered exciting opportunities in connection with their course, which will help their personal development, build their knowledge and expand their horizons. Often these opportunities can be missed due to financial constraints - especially in the Highlands and Islands - where travel costs can be dramatically more.
With over eight thousand students currently studying here, there is a great demand for this fund. Our university is important for the economy and the region, but most of all for the future of our students and their ambitions.
The fund was set up with an initial annual grant of over £5,000 thanks to donations made by various individuals and companies. Our long term ambition is to establish an annual fund of £25,000 which will build up over the years to provide long-term and continuing support for students. Read just a few examples of how the Student Development Fund has changed the lives of our students, thanks to support from our donors.
We would like to help as many students as possible achieve their goals and have the best experience they can at the University of the Highlands and Islands. In order to do this, we need financial help from our friends, supporters and you, our alumni. Please download our donation form or donate online here.
If you are a UK taxpayer, your gift can be worth even more, at no extra cost to you. Just by signing the Gift Aid Declaration, HM Revenue and Customs will increase every £1 you give by 25p. So therefore, a donation of £100 is actually worth £125 to the university.
You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that we reclaim on your donations in the tax year. If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief on your Self-Assessment tax return.
