Become an academic consultant

content

Consulting is one of the most important means by which staff can make their academic knowledge and expertise available to external organisations, including government, public sector bodies, community groups and businesses.

glassesThe university recognises the positive effect consultancy can have on both society and the economy, and how it can demonstrate research impact, an important component of the Research Excellence Framework.

Some of the benefits of academic consulting include:

  • Delivering solutions that benefit society
  • Building new relationships that can lead to research funding
  • Financial rewards for individuals and their departments
  • Broadening career horizons and learning about new technologies

How we can help

We will look after each step of the consulting process to make sure everything is as stress-free as possible. We will advise on and negotiate fee rates to ensure you are receiving a fair remuneration for your expertise. We will negotiate the terms of the agreement to protect your interests and those of the university, and ensure contracts provide full protection for your consultancy.
