This Higher National Award is designed to give you the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification in hairdressing which will enhance your employability in specialist technical areas.

Entry requirements

  • SVQ3 Hairdressing, plus three years working in the industry or
  • Minimum five years current industry experience
  • Applicants must understand the professional demands of the industry and the importance of health and safety, presentation and having a business perspective.


Year 1 - HNC

  • Hairdressing: Creative Designs in Haircutting
  • Hairdressing: Colouring, Colour Correction and Innovative Design
  • Employment Experience 1
  • Communication: Practical skills
  • Hairdressing Graded unit 1 
  • Principles and Practices of Selling
  • Digital Imaging
