What is special about this course?

If you are interested in a career in the new interactive media industry, the HND Interactive Media will equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve your ambitions.The course has been designed to meet the growing needs of the creative industries and digital media sector giving you an up-to-date recognised qualification.

The term 'interactive media' defines a collection of disparate technologies which provide a user experience using digital platforms. This course will give you the opportunity to study numerous technologies and techniques used in the interactive media industry including subjects in 2D and 3D animation, sound and video, web and mobile app development, as well as advanced digital imaging techniques.

You will also undertake the design, planning and management of interactive media projects with real clients.

  • This is a practical focussed course, teaching technical skills in a wide range of disciplines including web design, video and audio production, media composition, bitmap and vector techniques and e-business
  • Encourages creative thinking in a variety of contexts for the creation of digital media including graphic design, video, audio and animation

Entry requirements

  • 2 Scottish highers at grade C or above or
  • 1 A level at grade D or above
  • Direct entry to year two may be possible with the HNC Interactive Media
  • Prospective students without the standard entry requirements as listed above are encouraged to apply
  • You may be required to attend an interview

  • Designing and developing an interactive media product
  • Interactive media composition
  • Building an e-business
  • Sound and vision for interactivity
  • Interactive media: graded unit 2
  • Professional and legal issues for interactive media developers

Optional units may include:

  • Art and design: desktop publishing and layout
  • 2D digital imaging and animation
  • 3D modelling and animation
  • Digital imaging: advanced bitmpa techniques
  • Project management 1
