Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU)

Our Management School set up the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) to provide a wide range of services for public bodies, organisations and businesses through commissions or research contracts.

Intelligence is the key word - information will be tailored to the requirements of clients - authenticated and interpreted by our team of experienced economists and sector specialists.  The EIU will work with UHI partner and other associates who are specialists in their fields to provide the highest quality services – from a customised report requiring half a day’s work to a detailed model of the long-term skills needs of sector.  Highly experienced economist Steve Westbrook is the initial director of the EIU, and permanent staffing will grow as the work expands.

The EIU will endeavour to provide work experience for graduates from economics and related courses and involve current students in its work to give them practical training and enhance their future employment prospects.
