Jacky MacMillan is Head of the university’s Educational Development Unit.
Jacky started off teaching hospitality and moved into the world of technology enhanced learning in late 1999 and has since led many cross-curriculum, technology-based learning development projects for both further and higher education, knowledge transfer, European programmes and for other external partners.
The Educational Development Unit is a team of 12, who support academic staff across the university to provide students with a high quality learning experience by developing digital learning resources and technology-based delivery models to suit our unique model of delivery to students in remote and rural environments as well as internationally. The team are based across the region and under Jacky’s leadership work remotely using a range of technologies to communicate. The Inverness staff are based in the Research and Enterprise building on the Inverness Campus.
Educational Development Unit projects span the breadth of the curriculum and offer a range of delivery models for example enquiry-based learning resources for care subjects and virtual tour guides for tourism. The projects range from short course development to master’s level. At any one time the they unit will have up to twenty projects in progress and as such has developed a robust and effective approach to project management.
