Island Cèilidh comes to Glasgow

People in Glasgow are being invited to party Island-style with a traditional Cèilidh on Saturday 2 February at Celtic Connections 2013. Talented musicians and dancers with Uist connections will encourage audience members to the floor with a range of popular Cèilidh dance tunes, including Reels, Quadrilles and Cape Breton sets.

The evening, entitled Danns’ an Eilein, has been organised by Ceòlas, a Uist based music and dance summer school and arts project, as part of the Celtic Connections festival. A number of well-known musicians and special guests will take part, including Kathleen MacInnes, Allan Henderson, Kilphedar Sound, Frank McConnell and Dawn Beaton.

The event will also feature a special performance by Ceòlas’ dancer-in-residence, Rosalind Masson, accompanied by music from University of the Highlands and Islands’ students based at the Lews Castle College UHI Benbecula campus.

Danns’ an Eilein follows on from Ceòlas’ sell-out show at Celtic Connections 2012. It takes place from 8pm on Saturday 2 February at the National Piping Centre, Glasgow. Tickets are £12. To book a place or find out more, visit www.celticconnections.com.
