Ian Tait

Ian TaitIan Tait is the author of Rural Life in Shetland and the recently published Shetland’s Vernacular Architecture 1600-1900, on which he based his PhD, and he is curator at the Shetland Museum and Archives. Shetland's elite architecture has been documented frequently but the vernacular buildings constructed from local materials which accommodated most of the population and were also used to house their animals, store their peat or house their boats in winter are in his academic study examined in detail for the first time.
