Arts and Humanities Research Council Studentships

Thank you for your interest in AHRC PhD Studentships – the deadline for applications was mid-day Monday 26th November 2018; we are therefore no longer accepting applications. Short-listed candidates will be notified by week commencing 17th December 2018 and interviews will take place week commencing 7th January 2019. 

The University of the Highlands and Islands is one of ten Scottish institutions that are part of SGSAH, the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities. SGSAH has been awarded funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to support doctoral studentships and training in the Arts and Humanities in Scotland, as well as professional development opportunities.

The 3.5 year full studentships cover:

  • Tuition fees each year (for 2018/19 this is currently £4,260 for full-time study)
  • A maintenance grant each year of around £15,000 per annum (for full-time study)
  • Funding for research training
