What the KE team support

The Knowledge Exchange team should be one of your first points of contact for help and support if you are a researcher thinking about applying to any of the innovation funds.

The team works to increase UHI’s collaborative research with other universities/organisations, businesses, government, and third sector parties.  This includes work to provide collaborative training (CPD, studentship projects, training in enterprise and entrepreneurship) and to encourage our researchers to take part in relevant commercialisation and development activities.

They can also help with Knowledge Exchange projects such as Scottish Funding Council Innovation VouchersUKRI Industrial strategy Challenge Fund and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.

Sector Focused Teams

The university has specialist groups, formed to focus on business sectors where we have expertise, ready to help on commercial contracts and give expert help in collaborative projects. These groups are:

Aquaculture

Creative Economy

Energy

Scottish Rural Health Partnership (SRHP)

Sport and Fitness

Tourism

Water Quality Innovation

In addition to the seven KE sectoral groups, the KE team can help businesses undertake collaboration activities related to other areas, for example healthcare innovation, digital health, identity and heritage, Northern Studies, Agronomy, Archaeology, Fine Art and Music, Gaelic Language and Culture, Marine Ecology, Physical Oceanography – to name a few! The KE team is happy to help you find what you are looking for – UHI staff are experts in their fields of study, and they have industry experience backed up by current research projects. We can provide practical solutions to real problems.
