Leadership, Ambassador, MEd and PgCert Programmes

Leadership programme

Leadership Development for Principal Investigators is hosted externally by VITAE who provide new and aspiring PIs with information and guidance on key themes such as:

  • Intellectual leadership
  • Leading a research project
  • Building and managing a research team
  • Developing yourself as a PI
  • Developing individual researchers
  • Vitae Researcher Development Framework
  • Research Leader case studies
  • Reflecting on your performance as a PI

The guides used to be freely available but are now unfortunatly hidden within their members area. However, the webpages still provide useful reading and links and if you are a member you get full access to their guides and career development planning tool

HEFCE’s LGM fund supported this collaborative initiative, which involved several universities as well as Vitae, Research Councils UK, Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, Association of Research Managers and Administrators, and Universities UK

Ambassador Programme

Conferences make an important contribution to the local economy in Scotland and a high proportion of all association conferences attracted to an area come as a direct result of an invitation from a local member of an organisation or professional body.

If you are currently thinking of bidding for a conference, or are in the process of bidding to host an association conference, VisitScotland’s Business tourism Unit is at hand. VisitScotland have established an ambassador programme to assist academics who are based in the Highlands & Islands and are members of associations, bid for and win association conferences.  Find out how the Ambassador Programme could benefit you.
