Department of Optometry
This is a very exciting time in Optometry with the great expansion of roles and opportunities being developed to deliver eye care across the UK and national workforce plans suggest an additional 800 optometrists are likely to be needed across the country, with the North of Scotland being identified as one of the main areas that needs more skilled optometry professionals. Our new BSc (Hons) Optometry degree welcomed the first cohort of students in September 2020 to help support this growth. An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide technical support to the delivery of the programme and contribute to the ongoing development of the optometry department and its activities.
