We are seeking an outstanding and ambitious postdoctoral researcher with excellent analytical skills to undertake the characterisation and quantification of peptides in body fluids and tissues. We have recently been awarded a project grant from the Michael J Fox Foundation in collaboration with colleagues at Newcastle University. This project is focussed on the assessment of peptide markers for improving the diagnosis and prognostic evaluation of Parkinson’s disease. The study will make extensive use of high resolution liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) together with advanced bioinformatics tools. Candidates should hold or be near to completing a PhD in a biological/biomedical science, proteomics or analytical chemistry and have experience in the use of LC-MS/MS systems.

The position will be based at the Centre for Health Science, Inverness, which is founded on several areas of interest that includes clinical research, proteomics and lipidomics. The department of Health, Research and Innovation has recently undergone a major programme of expansion and our purpose built laboratories house a dedicated spectrometry suite that is equipped with Orbitrap, triple quadrupole and QTrap platforms.
