Working hoursFull-time (35 hrs per week)

UHI is a tertiary institution, and we are exceptionally proud of our ability to teach both further education and higher education, and this together with our world class research presence, means that our ambitions are high. The university is now looking for an interim chief financial officer for a period of 12 months to work closely with the Vice Chancellor, our academic partners and colleagues across the UHI community.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate significant experience of working in the further/higher education sector and of leading financial transformation at a group level in large/complex organisations, as this experience will be critical to delivering success in the role. Whilst strategic in intention, this is very much a hands-on role and the main focus of the role will be to support the university on its journey to becoming more effective and efficient so as to give our students the best possible experience and outcomes. This role will ensure that management information, systems and performance metrics are all in place together with effective financial strategy, forecasting, benchmarking and KPI metrics across UHI.  This will include working across the partnership driving change and transformation including leading the financial shared services agenda in partnership with colleagues, and as such the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a record of delivery which has been achieved by working collaboratively and in partnership in a challenging budget climate .   Excellent communication and influencing skills, in addition to technical expertise are central to this role.

The role is physically based Inverness and whilst UHI does support hybrid working, the successful candidate should be aware that they will be expected to spend a significant amount of time in the office working closely with colleagues.

Interested parties who are able to demonstrate that they meet the requirements of the role should contact Sue Johnson, Director of HR and OD for an initial discussion in the first instance: sue.johnson2@uhi.ac.uk.

Internal secondments within UHI are very welcome.

Interviews will be held in person in Inverness, date TBC.
