UHI is the United Kingdom’s leading integrated university encompassing both further and higher education. Based in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, our distinctive partnership of 12 independent colleges and research institutions is locally based and rooted in communities, but with national and international reach, as part of a regional university structure.
To support our work we are recruiting to the following role:

We’re looking for a web officer to assist in the development and delivery of UHI’s web presence. Although we’re not looking for someone just starting off in their career, we are willing to consider applications from candidates who don’t feel they quite meet the essential criteria but are willing and keen to learn from our experienced team.
As a member of the webteam, you should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to develop great working relationships with a range of colleagues – many of whom are not experts in this field.
We’re looking for a candidate with experience of working on websites. If you’ve worked for a larger or distributed organisation, even better, but don’t let that put you off applying. The web officer is part of a team who manage a web content management system (Terminal Four site manager), search (Funnelback), videography, a shared design approach for multiple websites, CMS training and web analytics.
This team works closely with colleagues in the wider corporate communications team to support the UHI partnership across a range of professional services for both project and ongoing initiatives. The team also delivers an internal consultancy service across the partnership supporting 12 websites.
This diverse role can touch on any of the following areas and more. We’d like to hear about your experience in any of the following areas as part of your professional journey so far:
- Accessibility, Usability, Design, HTML and CSS, Client and server-side script, Databases, Authentication, Analytics, User-testing, Data protection, Copyright, Consumer legislation, Training, Helpdesk call management
Interviews will be held TBC.
