content

These videos can be used in a number of ways – both in the classroom as a teaching resource for employability in relation to a future in management, and as a self-directed learning resource. Students can review and use videos to inform their approach to CVs, applications and interviews, and to help them think about their skills and experience, and their future career pathway.

Making you think...

To build on the content covered in these videos, individuals or groups could carry out the following tasks:

  • Consider how your skills and experience could complement and fit in with the type of attributes and qualities that Gregor and Billy mentioned in the video – what team work, work experience, class work, etc. could you use to demonstrate that you would be a suitable fit for their organisation?
  • After hearing about Gregor and Billy’s career pathways, what three things have you learned from their experience in getting to where they are today? Has it made you feel or think differently about your career aspirations?
  • Often at interview stage, the interviewer will ask you if you have any questions about the company or job…
    • Do a bit of research about Gregor Howitt Wealth Management Ltd. and think of some questions you could ask Gregor or Billy in an interview situation.
    • Consider how you can highlight knowledge of the company (successes, challenges, competitors); show willingness to succeed/thrive (look at promotion routes, success stories, etc.); and/or highlight your interest in the opportunity.
  • After hearing Bethan’s reflection on how her course helped her develop some of the university’s Graduate Attributes, consider how you might be developing these attributes on your course. Give an example from your course, or from work experience, for each attribute:
    • Academic skills
    • Self-management
    • Social awareness
    • Communication
    • Interpersonal skills
