Climate Emergency Training
Environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful has partnered with UHI to deliver FREE Climate Emergency Training to students and staff aged between 18-24 years old living in the Highland Council local authority area. A focus of the training will be around sustainable consumption, as part of the Highland Community Waste Partnership.
The course will provide an introduction to the causes and impacts of climate change and what can be done to address it. Climate change can seem overwhelming, so during this course we emphasise what actions are being taken globally, and in the Highlands, and what you can do to help.
As well as a chance to take action in your community as a Youth Climate Advocate you will receive Carbon Literacy Project certification upon completion of the training.
The training will take place online consisting of three, two-hour sessions, over a three-week period.
Each week involves an online session led by qualified facilitators, followed by some self-study tasks to be completed before the next session. Following the training you will have the opportunity to get involved in future Highland Community Waste Partnership activities and events.
To be certified as Carbon Literate you must attend all three of the live sessions, complete the self-study tasks and complete and return a Carbon Literacy Assessment form.
The dates and time for the training are:
- Tuesday, 30th May, 2.30 - 4.30pm
- Tuesday, 6th June, 2.30 - 4.30pm
- Tuesday, 13th June, 2.30 - 4.30pm
