Highland Theological College UHI student of the year 2011

Previously an undergraduate at the college, Jonathan achieved first-class honours in the BA (Hons) Theological Studies degree, before completing a doctorate in theology. He is now a pastoral assistant at Culloden Baptist Church, Inverness, and is training to become a fully-ordained church minister.

Jonathan was awarded the title in recognition of his academic and personal achievements and his contribution to the student community.

His five-year-old son, Lewis, suffers from a rare kidney disease, and Jonathan credits his own “exceptional self-discipline” for ensuring that he completed his coursework as he and his family cared for Lewis.

Jonathan also found time to serve as a representative on committees, and organised sports activities.

He said, “I was drawn to the college because of its low student-staff ratio. There is a good community at the college, and my time there has been a great experience.”
