West Highland College UHI Student of the Year

Donna Calder was nominated by her lecturers because of her exceptional academic and personal achievements and because of her contribution to the student community.  She enrolled at college in 2011 studying NC Child Health and Social Care and two years later has successfully completed her HNC in Early Education and Child Care.

Donna has also actively contributed to all aspects of student life whilst studying; she has been class representative and regularly speaks on behalf of her fellow students.  She has taken a lead role in various fund raising projects, raising over £2000 for local charities with her class peers.

Donna commented: “Through some challenging times in the past year and a half with my own personal struggles, I for one did not think I would be where I am today.  Had it had not been for family, close friends and the support of my lecturer Claire Pardoe, I do not think I would have achieved my goals.  I am both amazed and delighted to be given this award.”
