What should I wear?

All students presenting themselves at graduation ceremonies should dress appropriately. Black trousers, skirts and dresses with white shirt, blouse or other top are preferred. Alternatively, national dress may be worn.

How do I rent a gown and hood?

The academic partner where you will be attending the ceremony will provide you with details. Most academic partners use Ede and Ravenscroft.

The appropriate academic dress has been agreed as follows:

Undergraduate degrees (inc Cert HE and Dip HE) (see above)

Black academic gown.

Undergraduate hood – black outer, purple inner with a 25mm

silver/grey band inset 25mm from the outer edge.

Postgraduate hood – silver/grey outer with a purple inner.

SQA graduands should source the academic dress, including hoods, of that body. These are available from the our appointed supplier. Most academic partners use Ede and Ravenscroft.
