Articulation

Direct entry to year 2 or 3 of one of our degree programmes with an HNC/D

We encourage applications from students with non-traditional qualifications, including those coming direct from college with an HNC/D. If you have studied such a qualification at any UK college (including our partner colleges), please get in touch to find out what options may be available to you. In many cases your HNC could gain you direct entry to year 2 of a degree; while an HND could help you gain entry to year 3.

How do I use an HN qualification for entry to a degree?

When applying you may make use of our Recognition of Prior Learning process to apply based on your HN qualification for entry to year 2 or 3 of one of our degrees. We have already assessed many HN qualifications to provide you with a guide to the level you might expect to gain entry at. However, if your HN is not listed, or you would like to apply for another course, please do so, and we will assess your application on its own merits. Simply complete your application form stating the year of entry you are requesting. Your programme leader will then send you an RPL form to complete with details of your previous qualification.

Restrictions and other options

Entry to year 2 of our degrees requires an HNC with 120 credits. Please note if you have a 96 credit HNC then you may still be able to articulate to year 2 by taking bridging units/RPL (assessment of other formal or informal learning you may have completed). Entry to year 3 requires an HND with 240 credits.

Additionally some HNC/D courses require bridging study to ensure you have certain specialist content. Your programme leader will advise you when you apply.
