Ritsons Scholarship Programme 2016-17


£1,250 per annum x 3 years (total award = £3,750)
One scholarship to be awarded


  • Full Time students only
  • This scholarship is targeted at students resident in the Highland and Moray regions only
  • The scholarship is designed to provide a helping hand to students experiencing financial barriers and to assist students with the costs of attending the University of the Highlands and Islands (eg travel, learning resources etc).
  • Please note this is not a hardship fund – students seeking this form of support should submit an application for discretionary funding www.uhi.ac.uk/en/studying-at-uhi/first-steps/how-much-will-it-cost/funding/discretionary-and-childcare-funds
  • Students registered on online courses are not eligible
  • The scholarship will be open to students entering the second year of a UHI undergraduate degree programme in following subjects:

(a) BA Accounting & Finance
(b) BA Business and Management
(c) Note:  HNC and HND students (Finance, Business or Accounting) may be considered for support if there is an aspiration and commitment to continue studies to degree level


  • Must meet the degree programme entrance requirements
  • Supporting statement showing dedication, interest in the subject/study area, desire to progress and achieve
  •  Demonstrate financial need and how the scholarship will help and benefit
  • Potential to progress and succeed
