Entry Requirements for Indian Students

Undergraduate Programmes

Students must have good results (60% overall) in the CBSE, ISC or leading state board XII Standard exams.

All courses at the University (with the exception of our Gaelic programmes) are taught in English. You must have a very good level of English competence in order to be successful in your academic studies.

The UK Visa Immigration (UKVI) also has rules about the level of English required before a visa can be issued in order to study in the UK.

The IELTS standard of English language for undergraduate/bachelors programmes is average of 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in all elements.

Students with Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas from a UK awarding body may be eligible for substantial exemptions.

Postgraduate programmes and research

Requirements will vary dependent on recognition of university and scoring system used. As a guide, a Bachelor’s degree with a score of between 60-80% is considered comparable to a UK 2.1

The IELTS standard of English language for postgraduate programmes is average of 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in all elements.

Please note that Course teams may set higher levels of English  language proficiency if there is a clinical or client engagement element to the programme.
