The Department of Nursing & Midwifery was established as part of the university in Aug 2017 for provision of nursing and midwifery education with a team that is passionate about high quality nurse education and research. Our rural and remote context lend an excellent opportunity to be creative with pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning. The uniqueness of our context enables us to be resourceful and work collaboratively focusing on solutions that are relevant both within our context and beyond.

We have developed this webpage as part of the Nursing Now global campaign to celebrate the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, connect with colleagues globally and share some of our innovations and effective practice as part of our commitment to Knowledge Exchange. A few examples are featured here to highlight the regional, national and global relevance and significance of our excellent teaching and research initiatives.

Latest News - July 2021 - The Department becomes a member of the Network on Northern Nursing Education.  Read more
