Calum has been living and working in the Highlands since he bought the now 4- star Loch Melfort Hotel, near Oban, with his wife Rachel in 2008.

Calum combines the challenges of business ownership with a thriving consultancy business, advising SMEs across the Highlands & Islands in a variety of sectors. He was appointed to the board of Highlands & Islands Enterprise in September 2018 and was a board member of VisitScotland from 2013 until 2019 and UKH Hospitality from 2012 until 2023.

Calum maintains several high-profile voluntary board positions; a member of the national Tourism & Hospitality Industry Leadership Group, Chair of Highlands & Islands Thistle Awards, a director of the Scottish Tourism Alliance, Argyll & the Isles Tourism Co-operative Ltd and Red Roof Business Support Ltd and is also Chair of Arduaine Garden Friends.

Prior to returning to Scotland, Calum was Chief Operating Officer, Unilever Foodsolutions, Latin America, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
