Call for Papers - 'Firths and Fjords: A Coastal History Conference'

This conference will take place in Dornoch from 31 March - 2 April 2016 and will explore the pasts of communities living near or along adjacent coastlines. Firths, sea lochs, fjords, estuaries, inlets, sounds, narrow gulfs and bays could all be discussed. Keynote speakers will include Professor T.C. Smout, co-author of The Firth of Forth: An Environmental History (Edinburgh, 2012) and Professor Martin Carver, specialist in Archaeological Practice and Protohistoric Europe, who led the team which discovered and excavated the first monastery of the Picts at Portmahomack (1996-2007).
