LTA Connect: What is a digital university? Delving into the depths
This LTA Connect webinar explored the concept of the Digital University, discussing what “being digital” actually means at staff, students and institutional level. The presenters outlined their framework for conceptualising the digital university which moves beyond the received 'narrow' view in which digital relates only to digital technology and infrastructure, and digital skills and literacies.

The concept of the Digital University is being widely debated within the sector. There are a range of perspectives on what “being digital” actually means at staff, students and institutional level. Shared understanding of what being a Digital University might look like, are hampered by the term often being used in narrow contexts, mainly relating to digital technology and infrastructure or to developing digital skills and digital literacies. In this session we will explore some of these conflicted understandings and share our work on developing a framework to allow more constructive discussions and planning around the digital university concept. The session will encourage discussion and debate from colleagues based on their own experience.
