Rector

Fiona McLean was elected as our sixth Rector in June 2021.

Unlike most traditional universities, the rector is chair of the foundation and is a member of the university court.

The rector is elected by the foundation from nominations made by employees of the university partnership, our students, foundation members, alumni and university partnership governors. There is no restriction as to who may be nominated for the position of rector and they do not have to be drawn from any of the above constituencies and can come from the wider population.
