What is Clearing?
Clearing is a UCAS service that operates between July and September each year. You can take part in Clearing if you have already applied through UCAS and you are in one of the following categories :
- You applied before 30 June and were not made any offers.
- You applied before 30 June and declined all of your offers.
- You did not meet the conditions of your Firm and Insurance choices, and they have declined to take you, or you have declined any alternative offers (changed course offers).
- You applied after 30 June. If UCAS received your application after this date and you will go straight into Clearing.
If you originally only applied for one course (for the reduced fee of £12) you'll have to pay an additional £11 to enable you to apply for multiple courses.
If you are in Clearing this will be displayed on your UCAS Track page, where you will also find your Clearing number. You will need to provide your personal ID number which will allow us to see your application online.
To apply for a Clearing place at the University of the Highlands and Islands, find a course and campus that you are interested in and call us on 0845 272 3600.
If I’m not already in the UCAS system can I still apply to the university?
You can still apply to start in September this year through our late application process. Simply find a course on our website that you're interested in and follow the instructions on the apply button at the top right of each course page.
Please note that applications for full-time degrees will be directed to the UCAS website where you should register and make your application. When you submit your application you will receive a welcome email to access the UCAS Track service where you'll find your Clearing Number. You can then call us to apply for a place on the course and campus you’re interested in.
