Our CPD Scotland's Music (SCQF level 7) helps you explore the music and song traditions of the Highlands and Islands through both historical and social perspectives. Study the rich musical heritage of the Highlands and Islands, from its historical roots to contemporary performance and practice. Focus on instruments including the bagpipe, fiddle, and harp while developing a deeper understanding of the characteristics that define Scottish music. Explore how musical traditions evolve over time and investigate the social, cultural, and creative forces that drive change and innovation within Scottish music.

How will I study my course?

  • Part-time
  • This course is mainly delivered online with scheduled sessions and tutorials
  • Sessions are recorded and can be accessed online at any point from anywhere in the world after the scheduled class
  • Online study will be done via the university's virtual learning environment (VLE), with support from your tutors

How long will my course last?

  • Part-time: 12 weeks @ 4 hours per week
