Perth Charterhouse King James VI Hospital excavation week
UHI Centre for History's Interim Head Dr Lucy Dean is going to be getting her hands dirty alongside UHI student and community volunteers this week as the Perth Charterhouse King James VI Hospital Excavation week is here!
Lucy is co-lead on the project searching for long-hidden remains of the Carthusian monastery, founded in Perth in the 1420s and destroyed during the Scottish Reformation. She and the volunteers will be working alongside co-lead Prof Emeritus Richard Oram, University of Stirling, archaeological site manager, Dr Gavin Lindsay, All Ages Ltd., and a team from AOC Archaeology Group.

"We're so excited - this has been a long time coming, and I can't wait to get stuck in with our fantastic team. We're so grateful to our partners, Perthshire Society of Natural Sciences (PSNS), and our local funders, the King James VI Hospital Trust and the Guildry Incorporation of Perth, for their support in making this happen and to our wonderful volunteers from the local community and our very own UHI students for giving up their time to get involved. We hope the weather is kind and everyone has an amazing experience uncovering the past!"
