Earth and marine sciences
The university has been ranked second in Scotland and eighth in the UK for earth and marine sciences courses in the Guardian University guide.
Successful completion
70.3% of full-time further education students successfully completed their studies at Highlands and Islands colleges in the 2017 to 2018 academic year. This is higher than the national average figure, which shows that 66.1% of students passed further education courses at Scottish colleges in the period.
PG student satisfaction
The university received a score of 89% student satisfaction in the 2019 Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey. This is 9% higher than the average for Scottish higher education institutions. The result places the university tenth out of the 84 higher education institutions which took part in the survey.
Research student satisfaction
The university received a score of 85% student satisfaction in Advance HE’s Postgraduate Research Experience Survey, placing it fourteenth out of 103 institutions across the UK. It was rated number one in the UK for student satisfaction on science, technology, engineering and maths programmes.
100% Orkney
A new report has revealed student satisfaction is high at Highlands and Islands colleges. Six of our region’s colleges match or exceed the average satisfaction rate for Scotland, with Orkney College UHI achieving a rating of 100%.
